MultNAT® FMDV Assay
Product Overview
MultNAT® FMDV Assay is an automated, in vitro nucleic acid amplification test designed for the qualitative detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) by targeting the VP1 gene in vesicle skin, vesicle fluid, and oesophagus-pharyngeal fluid samples.
The assay provides rapid and accurate molecular detection to support early diagnosis, outbreak control, and surveillance of FMDV infection in livestock populations.
Ongoing Challanges
- Rapid Outbreak Spread: FMD outbreaks can escalate quickly without timely detection and containment
- High Transmission Risk: Infected animals shed large quantities of virus before obvious clinical symptoms appear
- Delayed Diagnosis: Conventional laboratory testing may delay confirmation, increasing risk of disease spread
- Field Detection Needs: Veterinary and quarantine authorities require rapid and reliable diagnostic tools for outbreak management
Clinical Value
- Rapid Detection: Provides molecular diagnostic results in 105 minutes, enabling timely decision-making during outbreaks
- High Specificity: Accurate detection of FMDV targeting the conserved VP1 gene.
- Reliable Performance: High analytical specificity ensures precise pathogen identification.
- Automated Workflow: Compatible with the MultNAT® Molecular Diagnostic Testing System for streamlined testing and reduced contamination risk.
