MulNAT® MRSA/SA Assay
Product Overview
MultiNAT® MRSA/SA Assay is intended for qualitative in vitro detection and differentiation of Staphylococcus aureus (SA) and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from nasal swab specimens in patients at risk for nasal colonization. It is used as an aid in the prevention and control of MRSA/SA infections in healthcare settings.
- Fast: Get result from sample in about 62 minutes
- Simple: Fully automated workflow. Sample-in, result-out
- Safe: All-in-one cartridge with integrated UDG anti-contamination system
- Accuracy: high sensitivity, high specificity ensures precise pathogen identification
Clinical Value
Infection Prevention: Aid in implementing targeted contact precautions and decolonization protocols to prevent nosocomial transmission
Treatment Guidance: Provide crucial information for antibiotic stewardship by differentiating MRSA from MSSA colonization
Resource Optimization: Save time and labor with an automated, streamlined workflow, improving laboratory and hospital efficiency
Ongoing Challenges
- Staphylococcus aureus (SA) is a major human pathogen, possessing a variety of virulence factors and the ability to develop resistance to most antibiotics. It is a leading cause of both community and healthcare-associated infections
- Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are difficult to treat due to limited antibiotic options and are associated with higher mortality, longer hospital stays, and increased healthcare costs
- Nasal colonization by SA and MRSA is a key risk factor for subsequent infection and transmission, making its early detection critical for effective infection prevention and control strategies
- Rapid, accurate differentiation between MRSA and methicillin-sensitive SA (MSSA) colonization is essential for guiding appropriate patient management and antibiotic stewardship
