Ongoing Challanges
*Trichomonas vaginalis* (TV) is a flagellate protozoan that inhabits the human urogenital tract, causing trichomoniasis, one of the most widespread non-viral STIs. Common detection methods include saline smear microscopy and culture.
Smear microscopy has low sensitivity, leading to missed diagnoses. Culture is the gold standard but requires 2–5 days. Molecular testing offers high sensitivity.
