EasyNAT® Molecular Testing Platform for Malaria
April 25 marks the World Malaria Day. Malaria is a life-threatening challenge globally. It is considered as one of the three most serious infectious diseases by WHO. Accurate and efficient diagnostic methods are of great significance for the prevention and control of malaria.
Considering that traditional malaria testing has its limitations, including diagnostic omissions, errors and delays, Ustar has developed an automatic and integrated point-of-care testing platform that detects nucleic acid of Plasmodium, improving Plasmodium detection rate and contributing to global anti-malaria practices. With a single click on the touchscreen, user can get result automatically reported by the system in as fast as 49 minutes, realizing "sample in, result out" without extra manual operation. The system is intended for fast, accurate and qualitative detection of five types of Plasmodia nucleic acids in human plasma, whole blood, and fingertip blood samples. It is of high sensitivity with the limit of detection (LOD) ≤60 parasites/mL.
Molecular point-of-care testing is an accurate, fast testing approach of high sensitivity and specificity, particularly suitable for low-density Plasmodium infection. Based on cross priming amplification technology, EasyNAT® Malaria Assay has good prospects due to its fast, simple, accurate and instrument-free features.
